London Fashion Week : House Of Holland

"Henry gets a little nervous before shows" an unexpected phrase from a member of the HoH team.
And Henry does look 'a little nervous' as he anxiously tries to find a missing model right before the final rehearsal for the AW12-13 show, apparently some of the models are eagerly rushing from an Aquascutum show at Sommerset house to a rather grand hall somewhere near Farringdon.
It's hard to believe that someone whos collections ooze care- free could possibly be nervous.
The past few years have seen Henry go from strength strength,  this is the designers eleveth show and we've seen his collections develop from tongue in cheek slogan tees to little colourful works of art.
25 Minutes later and the show's about to start , editors filter in one by one followed by the usual HOH team of Alexa Chung , Pixie Geldoff and Nick Grimshaw who are all here to support their close friend.
The lights shine and an array of 70s Sci fi inspired models strut to the sounds of Queen, Azealia Banks and M.I.A, the collection boasts a juxtapose of houndstooth, goat hair and colour.
It's obvious that the HoH girl is now a women, a women who still posesses the same sassy humour as she always has but is looking for a more 'classic' piece to see her through winter.
Personally,  I love the collection.
And nothing says London fashion week more than a Tour de France inspired jumpsuit.

New term, New start.

After a very long break, i've decided to start blogging again.
I started my Ba Hons in Fashion Illustration at London College of Fashion back
in September and have gathered enough work ready for submission of my project
on Monday.
My task was to produce a book based on Portobello Road, Notting Hill.
I've scanned in a few of my images to share on here.

Its nice to be back

Long Live Luella

I think every women has had that same feeling as they search through a wardrobe full of clothes in desperation of something to wear.
It's a feeling of need, void and regret, as you remember the dress that got away.
I've always had a ridiculous urge to own a pink velvet , pleated dress worn by Alexa Chung for Luella.
Every now and then when I look through a season lookbook and find myself disapointed, It takes me back to a time when Luella was creating innovative and colourful creations that helped to put Britain on the fashion map.
On the 9th November 2009 Luella Bartley sadly confirmed that her label had become another victim of the recession and was going into administration, although I was shocked, I think me and many (more knowledgable) others thought that surely someone would save the company before it completely died.
Unfortunately , this is still not the case and the company no longer exists, although Luella Bartley herself still regularly writes and has a heavy influence on the industry,I think its important to remember that an amazing designer is going to waste.
I hope that In the near future , I wont have the problem of finding the perfect dress and instead on a black velvet hanger will be the one that got away.

Benicassim

I've finally got round to developing my photos from Benicassim and I think it's safe to say that I've captured the true beauty of the Spanish festival.
The town was awash of fringed bikinis, top knots and tye dye as thousands of people gathered to catch performances from artists such as ; Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes and Friendly Fires.
What made it different from other festivals that i've been too (apart from the lack of mud covered hunter wellies) was the laidback feel, everybody was there to have a good time , soak up the sun and watch some amazing sets.
I'd definately recommend swapping your usual British festival for a week at Benicasssim, enjoy the photos and there'll be more posts very soon x

LDN

It's becoming scarily close to my move in date, the day I pack up my stuff and move to the big lights to start university.
And if i'm perfectly honest with you, I'm shitting myself.
I spent the first few days of last week down In london, attending my University induction and although the day was a little daunting, im ridiculously excited to start LCF!
Whilst down there I got to meet up with a few friends (in between catching the ridiculously hot tubes and running through brick lane, trying to find some bragains).
We spent the evening in Shoreditch , at a little club called 'The Den'.
For anyone who is from Liverpool , it reminded me of a cooler Mixed Bag minus The Smiths and Joy Division.
But anyway, thought I'd share a few photos from the evening that my friend Sophia took..

P.s Only six days until Benicassim

Bleach, Dalston

I'm becoming painfully bored of my hair and with articles about 'Bleach London' popping up in every high fashion magazine available, I'm lusting over a hair full of paintbox shades.
My tumblr is full of photo's of their hairstyles that I've reblogged and loved, I'm going to need a restraining order against the place next week on my visit to london.
Below are a few looks from the guys.

I've Been Slacking Lately..Newgen S/S 12

I'm feeling a little bit guilty that I've abandoned my blog for the past week or so, but the good news is that I have alot to talk about now!
Firstly NEWGEN announced their sponsorship for London Fashion Week S/S 12 and i'm more than excited to see that my favourite designer Felicity Brown is included in the exhibiton space, aswell as Michael Van Der Ham and Holy Fulton (Who is slowly growing on me) who have catwalk sponsorship.
The Newgen space is my favourite part of fashion week, as it adds something new and innovative around the norm of other fashion shows from classic designers.
Moving on from this , I have started work on my second dress this month for a project named 'Inside Out' (See previous posts for sketchbook work).
The dress is inspired by clockwork and is made from a number of different coloured satins fan pleats, I cannot wait to see how it turns out!
I'll be sure to post photos of it on here soon.

Captured Collection

I'm taking a little break from my final major project work (its 2.50 am and my deadlines at noon) to upload my final outfit for my 'Captured' brief.
I've created the skirt from 8 metres of negative film, steel and canvas material.
As well as the bra and PVC t-shirt, it's taken me numerous weeks and several tantrums but it's finally done..Now, it's time to get back to my sketchbook.
